Look at all that lovely rust.

During

First coat. It's thin, and the yellow shows through in spots, but that's the reason for the second coat...

tailgate, first coat

No idea if the Herculiner will stick well on the galvanized steel panel on the tailgate, but what the hell. We'll see.

new tie-downs!

I pulled four of these tie-downs out of an Isuzu Trooper at Pull 'n Save in Denver last year. I mostly wanted the Trooper's seat base, but I figured I'd grab these while I had a wrench in my hand.

The seat base, even though it had a super-snazzy spring/shock suspension system, turned out to be the source of much pain once I put the five-point harness in the Land Cruiser, since the belts were anchored to the floor, while the seat moved up and down... Glad I got the tie-downs, at least!

new shocks

These shocks were the cheapest I could find, at thirteen bucks a pop. They beat the hell out of what was on there. After I took off the old shocks, I compressed and extended them a couple of times — they were so worn out that it felt almost like there was nothing at all inside them. These shocks probably added three inches to the ride height of the trailer!.

one pretty TIG weld

Ryan TIG-welded the safety chains in place. Pretty easy to tell that's not a stick weld! His welds, even the upside-down ones, are so pretty.

new-to-me tires

This is probably the only trailer in the neighborhood that's running on Pirellis. *grin* Jason's neighbor Chris sells used tires. He charges $15 per tire, and another $5 to pull off your old tire and mount the new one. Total bargain.
