Utility trailer — before, during, and after paint

Here are a few pictures from before, during, and after the paint job. The paint is tractor paint, International Harvester red.

As usual with this (Nikon Coolpix something-or-other) digital camera, the red is too bright, but other colors are pretty close to accurate, at least on my calibrated monitor. :)

Before

maiden voyage

October 25, 2003
The day before we started the paint job, we took the trailer on its maiden voyage to the recycling center with a load of leaves and scrap metal.

garbage closeup

Here's a closeup of the garbage in the trailer, as well as a decent look at our backyard.

And no, there's not a gas tank behind the fuel door. That'd be a good place for an air chuck, though...

During

weird primer pattern

October 26, 2003
Why prime the whole thing when you can prime just the ground-off spots?

anita stirring the paint

Anita, stirring the paint. Kind of a bit mad-scientist looking...or is it mad-painter?

first coat front

Front view, after the first coat. Obviously it needs at least one more.

first coat side

Side view, after the first coat.

After

front corner, after the third coat

Three coats later, it looks pretty darn good for a beat-up old trailer...
